of tow trucks tried to haul the bus away. angela let me gos who was driving a another school bus came to the rescue. chp says 16 kids including the driver made it out safely only a few bumps and bruises. >> it could have been a lot worse. we were very, very lucky. >> reporter: on highway 108 this big rig hauling gasoline overturned when the driver lit a patch of ice. as a result the road was closed all afternoon. but the problem started yesterday afternoon. >> a lot of people didn't expect the snow this low and it created some problems for us last night and this morning. >> reporter: this was the scene last night a few miles away from where up to a hundred cars were piled up because of spinouts and crashes. >> the biggest thing i think a lot of the people didn't want to put the chains on and kind of created the issue for everyone else in the area. >> reporter: nick's towing has been working around the clock but crews say the day is far from over. >> how many cars have you towed? >> about 30. that's counting all day yesterday and up to right now. >> you still have more? >> yes. >>

school year, we want accountable. i stand here today with angela, our state's attorney. and michael blow, the director of school security, to proclaim in necessary partners to stop violence against young people. an announcement of the upcoming partnerships will be forthcoming in days ahead. we plan to involve interfaith and other nonprofit groups in this necessary fight to reduce violence against young people. at the core of all of our strouties will be the focus of conflict resolution. in the meantime, our agency and the state's attorney office are making progress in the ross homicide investigation. we will have a significant announcement next week. we have already made arrests in the murder of reyes and marcus jones. significant leads are being vigorously pursued in the amber stanley case as well. i anticipate all of these cases to close with a rest. we will keep the community media updated as this investigation progresses. thank you. >> thank you. good afternoon. i want to just first begin by thanking chief mcgraw and this department for the work they are doing. as he indicated, we ex

sophie lillard age 6 and madigan lillard age 3. the survivors, parents angela and jack lillard, along with 8-year- old sister morgan and her 7- month-old sister sadie. all were taken to the hospitals with injuries. neighbors are left to pray for the parents whose incredible bravery could not save all their children. >> it's a tragedy, an absolute tragedy. we didn't sleep at all last night, neither my husband nor i. >> she kept rocking and said what happened? what happened? where can my babies be? i'm a mother and i don't know how she could handle losing two babies like that. >> reporter: a volunteer firefighter from myersville was also injured here last night. by the time the fire crews got here the house was completely engulfed in flames. in fact, some of the neighbors think firefighters weren't called until the house was up in flames because the parents were scrambling so desperately to save the children. we know angela lillard is part of the carroll creek montessori school community in frederick. we've been in touch with some of those folks. there is an outpouring of grief and supp
